Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis and examination of biological evidence collected from crime scenes, including body fluids, hairs, fibers, and other trace evidence.
- Perform serological tests, including blood typing, semen detection, and determination of species origin, to identify the presence of bodily fluids and establish potential DNA profiles.
- Utilize advanced laboratory techniques, such as microscopic examination, serological staining, and immunological assays, to identify and classify biological samples.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting the results of tests, observations, and interpretations, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
- Assist in the preservation, packaging, and transportation of biological evidence to maintain chain of custody and prevent contamination.
- Collaborate closely with forensic analysts, investigators, and legal professionals to provide expert testimony, present findings, and assist in the development of case strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in forensic serology and related technologies, attending training sessions and conferences as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Biology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience working in a forensic serology laboratory, ideally within a law enforcement or legal environment.
- In-depth knowledge of forensic serology principles, techniques, and methodologies, including bloodstain pattern analysis, DNA profiling, and serological testing.
- Familiarity with relevant laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and software used in forensic serology, including microscopes, spectrophotometers, and genetic analyzers.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Proficient in interpreting and analyzing complex scientific data and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize workload effectively.
- Highly ethical, maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout all aspects of work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
